Location: Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas
Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST), a dynamic medium size consulting firm with offices across the United States, is looking for a Biological Field Technicians.  Since 1990, WEST has grown to be one of the premier environmental and statistical consulting firms in the United States. WEST has a permanent core of professionals with broad experience in basic and applied ecological studies and the sophisticated analysis of natural resource data.
Temporary biological field technicians needed for studies designed to assess trends in lesser prairie-chickens in Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The position will require being with a crew of four assisting with aerial flights to locate lesser prairie-chicken leks, and ground truthing of lesser prairie-chicken leks. This job requires hours of sitting in a helicopter scanning the landscape for birds; willingness to work closely with a crew; ability to follow standardized protocols; ability to record data in a neat and organized manner. Ability to see and write.

Compensation: $15-17 / hour
Start date:  March 14, 2018
End date: May 1, 2018

Completion of a bachelor's degree in biology or other natural sciences preferred.  Possession of a valid driver's license required. Applicants should demonstrate ability to work on biological field studies or prior field experience as well as strong work ethic. Preference will be given to applicants that have flown in small utility type helicopters or small fixed wing airplanes and have worked with lesser prairie-chickens. This position requires ability to communicate effectively with crew leader and project manager. Technicians must be able to adhere to scientific protocols as well as health and safety guidelines.
