Job Description:
The successful candidate will have experience in Health and Safety and will be responsible for assisting the Health and Safety Manager.  Duties and responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
  • Assist Health and Safety Manager
  • Coordinates training and prevention efforts
  • Updates incident response plans, including emergency and crisis plans
  • Maintains documentation database
  • Maintains required federal/state/local governing entities health and safety posters, emergency telephone numbers, OSHA Form 300 and other required notices
  • Maintains accident and incident investigation and reporting procedures and systems
  • Keeps all records and reports of accidents that have taken place during company operations
  • Process all paperwork associated with accidents, on-site inspections, and in house audits
  • Reports accidents that result in an occupational fatality or three or more hospitalized workers to federal/state/local governing entities as required within eight hours of occurrence
  • Audits client contracts to ensure the environmental, health and safety policy, procedures and training meet contract requirements
  • Completes client specific questionnaires, job hazard analysis forms, audits and request for health and safety information
  • Responsible for the preparation and management of the health and safety budget
  • Provide management with annual health and safety program report
  • Respond to and complete Workman’s Compensation claims, correspondence and reporting

Requirements:
The Health and Safety Coordinator we are seeking has a great opportunity to help WEST take the next step in our growth as a premier environmental consulting firm.  The successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses:
  • Minimum of a an Associate’s degree in Health and Safety
    • at least a certification in (STS, OHST, CHST) is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a health and safety department
  • General knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations
  • Experience with Worker’s Compensation claims, investigations and reporting
  • Record of exceptional customer support
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling information and documentation
  • Be detail oriented in all transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and make independent decisions
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment
 
Successful candidates must be able to pass a background check; a pre-employment drug screen; and a DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company.  A valid driver’s license will be required.  Candidates must adhere to all health and safety requirements.
