Data Entry Technician

Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST), a dynamic medium size consulting firm with offices across the United States, is looking for a part time, Data Technician. WEST has a permanent core of professionals with broad experience in basic and applied ecological studies and the sophisticated analysis of natural resource data.

Description:
WEST, Inc. has a nonexempt, temporary position available for a Data Entry Technician, working in possibly Cheyenne or Laramie, WY or Fort Collins, CO the location of the position will be determined based on the final applicant. This technician will interact and collaborate with statisticians, biologists and other project personnel. Approximately 30-40 hours per week based on work load and flexibility in hours and schedule is available. 

Technician Essential Responsibilities:
  • Enter biological data in to MS Access, MSSQL, and Arc-GIS.
  • Learn QAQC procedures for data entry (as experience with data entry progresses)
Opportunities for further growth that may arise, but not essential to position (depending on experience):
  • Become a QAQC or Field Technician
  • Occasionally, opportunities may exist to do more complex data management.  For example, import and export wildlife and environmental data, assist in developing graphs and tables and perform simple analyses
  • Participate in field surveys (optional participation for field work)
  • Provide reporting support as needed:  compiling tables and figures, report writing, technical editing support.

Requirements:
  • Seeking college degree in a natural resources related field
  • Strong interest in working with wildlife, environmental, renewable energy, statistical or mathematical data and databases. 
  • Highly developed ability to stay focused and pay attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of initiative and ability to think critically to solve challenging problems.
  • Self-starter who can work independently yet thrives in a team environment.
  • Capable of appearing for work on time, sitting for long periods of time, and following instructions; can interact effectively with coworkers and clients; maintain a positive attitude; accept guidance and constructive criticism.
